Grace is defined as the unmerited favor one receives from God. Grace comes in many forms and in many circumstances. Everyone has such a story and every story looks different.
Grace. Unmerited favor. Something that we DO NOT deserve but is freely given to us regardless. Grace says “I see your flaws, your mistakes, your weakness but I crown you with favor anyway”.
Grace comforts you in your hardest seasons and reaffirms you in your sweetest.
If I can count how many times God has extended His grace my way I think I’d be counting forever. I’ve seen His grace in times of loneliness, need, & in the midst of pain. In the same way I’ve seen that same Grace poured out over my life during times of joy, laughter and hope.
“…GOD sent me to announce the year of his GRACE… and to comfort all who mourn…give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes, Messages of joy instead of news of doom, a praising heart instead of a languid spirit…”
Isaiah 61:1-7 MSG
Roses are often used as a symbol of love and compassion in many countries. These particular flowers have a sweetness to them; they are bold in color and gentle in smell. But..as we all know they certainly have another side to them. The thorny, rough side of the stem.
They are a perfect personification of life. In life you have your share of sweet moments and rough patches. You have seasons of great joy and seasons that are more painful. The beauty of it is that despite the season you’re walking through there is ALWAYS grace being poured out upon you. The free and unmerited favor of the Lord surrounds us regardless of what side of the Rose our season is portraying.
This might be a corny analogy (brace yourselves, I’m full of them) but it is something that we should always hold dear and be aware of. No matter the season, whether sweet or thorny, Grace is always accessible to us.
“For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”Matthew 5:45 ESV
His clouds of GRACE are full of RAIN and they POUR OUT on our Just & Unjust seasons.
There’s GRACE for your side of the Rose.
